Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to go on a girl’s trip to Key West, Florida with three of my girlfriends. Now, I have to tell you I was counting the days until I was able to jump on the plane and head down south. I haven’t been on a true girl’s trip since my bachelorette party three years ago, so it was something I was SO looking forward to!

Michelle, Cass and I took the first flight out on Friday morning and landed in sunny Key West still early enough to catch some sun, take some fun photos and start drinking cocktails. Christie met us just in time to head out to get tacos and bar hop on Duval Street. PS If you’re heading to Key West do your best to get reservations at Aqua to catch a fun drag show!

What can I say? I like champagne. #classy

We spent one afternoon grabbing brunch at Blue Macaw where we chowed down on fish tacos and made bloody marys at a build-your-own-bloody-mary bar and listened to live music. After we ate, we walked around the town. Key West is the CUTEST! Bright colorful buildings, ice cream shops, live music on the street corners, and really fun bars.

We ate dinner one night at Louie’s Backyard. It is an AMAZING old Victorian house on the sand that was converted into a restaurant and patio bar. Food was incredible and view was amazing which made for an unforgettable night.

We decided to charter a catamaran one of the days….all I can say, is it was the best day we had. We drank champagne, paddle boarded, swam in warm waters, laid in the sun and celebrated Miss Cass’ 25th birthday. We finished the day eating conch fritters  (local fav and SO good) and oysters.

The trip was incredible, and I would head back to Key West in a heartbeat! But the best thing that came out of it was that I have developed such great relationships with these amazing women. I have been lucky enough to have a beautifully strong group of girlfriends surround me through out my life and to be able to add three strong women as true friends into my life is truly a blessing. Blogging has brought some incredible things to me in the last 10 months, but the greatest thing has been true friendships.

Hope you all have a  wonderful week!

Happy Monday loves! Last weekend, Alex and I took a long weekend trip to one of our very favorite get-away-spots: Miami. It is a quick 3 hour flight from NYC and the perfect city to visit when you are looking for a fun and warm weekend away. Since we have been together, we have taken a weekend away to celebrate his birthday, which is actually today (Yay!), and 3 of these last 4 years we have chosen to visit Miami.

Now, I know what you all must be thinking: Miami = party city and not exactly a relaxing spot. Well, we definitely do it our own relaxing-skip-the-clubs-way. Our idea of the perfect weekend away is laying in the sun with a cocktail in hand, stuffing our faces with fantastic food, and walking around discovering the city.

Here’s how we do Miami:

Mondrian South Beach – My favorite hotel in Miami. Beautiful design, comfortable beds, huge rooms, great service and it is actually located on the Bay which is just far enough from the craziness of South Beach. The pool area is just perfect with day beds and comfortable lounge chairs and the pool is huge! The views do not hurt either!

Yardbird One of my most favorite restaurants. This Southern food restaurant is unexpected in Miami, but let me tell you, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. It. Is. Delicious. Try the Chicken Biscuits, Fried Green Tomato BLT, and Fried Chicken and Waffles.

SushiSamba Classic Japanese Sushi with Peruvian and Brazilian flare. The bright decor and DJ ensure a fun night! Be sure to get a table outside to people watch and definitely order a Samba Juice and Rock Shrimp Tempura.

Cecconis Located in the SoHo house, this incredible beautiful restaurant is the perfect date night spot. The food is to die for and the atmosphere is even better.

Zuma Hot spot in downtown Miami. A great place for delicious Japanese food and the bar scene is upscale and chic. Perfect way to start a night out!

Jose Andres The Bazaar Love tapas? You’ll love this place. The food is flavorful and beautifully presented. Be sure to get a Gin and Tonic while you are there, just as the Spaniards do.

Joe’s Stone Crab A true staple in Miami for seafood and Florida’s famous stone crab. Delicious and so fresh! If it is your first time to Miami, Joe’s is a place you must hit!

Juvia  Most beautiful view in the city. The outdoor space is covered with ivy and makes for a perfect night with the girls. Skip the food, go for drinks.

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband. November 16th is my favorite day of the year because it is the day you were born. You have made my life full of love, laughter, and happiness. You are the reason I am so happy each day. Thank you for all you do and who you are to me and so many other people. Thank you for your endless support and encouragement. I love you so much.

“The more you see the less you know.”

I am fortunate enough to have been able to spend time in Spain for the last 4 summers. My husband, Alex, is Spanish and has spent time on the Costa Del Sol every year since he was a child. Going with him is like traveling with a local. He knows amazing restaurants, the best places to see, tiny towns to visit, and the right beaches along with his favorite chiringuitos. Spain has become such a special place to me, a bit of heaven and a place where I feel at true peace. I can breath a little deeper, walk a little slower and clear my mind. The sun feels differently on my skin than anywhere else in the world. When it comes time to leave, we find ourselves talking about what we will do the next time we will be there. I love that Alex and I have found our own traditions and have created such beautiful memories.

This year, his entire side of the family was there with us and we all traveled to Barcelona for 3 days. And let me tell you we experienced it like true tourists! Next to New York, Barcelona is my most favorite city in the world. There is something about it that makes me feel like a child, with my eyes wide open ready to explore every corner. The colorful city that has so much of Gaudi’s influence and work feels like a fantasy land. I felt alive and inspired at each new place we discovered. Before we left on our trip, I purchased my first Canon camera. I still have no idea what I am doing with it, but I was pushed to learn something new, try to capture beautiful images through my perspective, and see the world a bit differently.

I have seen so many beautiful places, but I still have so much to learn from this huge world. I really am just a tiny speck in it all.
